What does the Name Nobska mean?
Some people ask "What does the name Nobska mean?" Some assume that we are Scandinavian or Russian because Nobska sounds foreign. Actually, the name Nobska (formerly "Nobsque") is famous locally. It is the name of America's last remaining tall stack coastal steamship, the SS NOBSKA.
It is also a well known light house at Nobska Point in Woods Hole, MA USA. And, by the way, the owner of NOBSKA lives on Nobska Circle in Woods Hole, MA not far from Nobska Light.
